Dalir og hólar 2014 is an exhibition project which uses abandoned houses and / or open spaces at eclectic sites in western Iceland, Reykhólar Commune and Dalir Commune. The theme of the 2014 exhibition is LITUR (Color).
The impetus for the project is the desire to engage in a discourse with the people of this remote area, to contribute to local culture, and to imbibe the area’s spectacular scenery.
Furthermore the project wishes to encourage tourists and other visitors to come enjoy the landscape and culture of the Breiðafjörður region. The exhibition sites are spread along the area Reykhola- Commune (Reykhólasveit) – Dala-Commune (Dalabyggð) and the project is in collaboration with individuals and institutions within the area. The exhibition thus invites visitors to travel around the area through the positioning of the work in different locations. The catalogue for the exhibition is at the same time a site map of the area and a guidebook for the exhibition.
The exhibition lasts from the 5th July until the 10th August 2014.
The Exhibition Project is made possible by the generous contribution of the artists and the local owners of the sites occupied by the artworks. Also by the support of Visual Arts Council of Iceland, The Association of Ólafsdalur, The Dala Commune/The Museum in Sælingsdal and the Reykhóla Commune.
